msnutmeg asked: have blonde 50’s collection. dining room china cabinet & buffet.want them to be deep rich chocolate brown.Should I paint brown & then stain & coat with clear polyurethan? Was once painted ocre & then stained blonde. Should I use water base paint & can I stain over this? The china cabinet belonged to my grandmother and it took me 4 years to collect the rest of the pieces including a table & 6 chairs and a desk. This is a sentimental thing for me…i would love some help to make everything match & finish all with matching drawer pulls. I just love the deep chocolate brown color with a high gloss finish…any help would be greatly appreciated…I will have access to U.S. products as I am located in the great lakes area …usa. THANKS A BUNCH! FROM A DESPERATE GRAND-DAUGHTER! WHO REALLY DOESN’T WANT TO MESS THIS UP! SMILES

CowGirl asked: Well I’m the kid and so is my brother. Me have our own iMac and right now it’s in our kitchen (we have a big kitchen) but it looks bad everything else is matched and then we hve the cmputer on this thing that rolls (but it’s falling apart) we have a big one story house but lots of antique furniture that really gives no options.
Living room-53′ iin. TV on 65′ antique dresser, fire place, 2 big gray chairs (with rolling footrests) a cherry wood coffee table nd couch, a cheerywood table by the frontdoor. (duznt seem like a lot but they way its layedout…)
Dining room-grand piano, big cherry wood table, HUGE China cabinent glass table
My mom’s office is taken with my mom’s computer and my dad’s computer is in my parent’s room. Were getting our wn computers soon for our rooms, and in our game room between the Wii, pooltable foozball table tv theres NO room, what do u suggest?

Pink Frog asked: My am in college and next semester my best friend and I are getting an apartment together. She is kind of boyish and I am super girly. We will each have our own bedrooms and bathrooms and she said that I could decorate our Living room, kitchen, and dining room as well. I basically have two parts to my question:
1.) When decorating my room and bathroom, I have no furniture yet so it is a blank canvas. Where can I find some cheap durable pieces that I can transfer to my house when I graduate? Also, where are some cute decorating ideas? I love the home interior kind of stuff with the wrought iron and etc, but I am still yound and want to incorporate livliness! I also love pink and green. Where can I find cute accessories?
2.) For the living room and dining room, we have antique furniture that is very not our style. I will have to work around it until we can save for others. How can I modernize it and where can I find cheap but classy looking stuff to replace it? Thanks!

tnb1984 asked: I am looking to buy a solid wood kitchen table (prefer cherry), with large (wide, cushioned) chairs. I want a table that everyone WANTS TO spend time at. One that’s REALLY comfortable. I really like the cozy look of a breakfast nook, but I don’t want the bench seats. And, most are just too small for us. Any ideas??? Thanks!

I’m having a difficult time trying to find an appraiser in my area (SE Michigan) who’s interested in giving an appraisal only. I run into mostly antique dealers that just want to offer a price so they can turn around and resell it for double. What would be a reasonable price to ask for a solid mahogony dining room set (table, 6 chairs, china cabinet, buffet) in good condition?

MrsKat asked: Our house has a very long living room/dining room combo with white ceramic tile. The walls are a light brown color with a white vault ceiling and dark wood center beam in the middle.
