jessi v asked: Nothing special, just cheap. Me and my boyfriend just got a house with a patio, and we want a table and chairs for out there. The cheapest thing I found at Wal-Mart was like 150 and the table was tiny. I can’t even find just a plastic table and chairs. We live in Western PA, I’m hoping theres a secret used store or something someone might know about:) lol

Hilary M asked: I’m looking for outdoor furniture for the patio and have found a set that I really like and is reasonably priced. It is made of kiln-dried hardwood, not teak, so I am wondering how bad it is to leave some of it outdoors over the winter. We live in CT so winters can be bad here. While I will probably be able to store some of it indoors, I’m just not sure if we have room to move everything indoors for the winter. I would obviously cover everything with furniture covers if left outdoors, but it would likely sit in some snow at some point. Will it be destroyed? I’m going to look for other options if you all think it’s a bad idea. Thanks in advance for your advice!
I would take it inside as I know that would extend the life of it, unfortunately, that just isn’t an option for me…we just don’t have room for it. We are trying to build a shed for some of it but the town is giving us grief…that’s a whole other story though…so I’m not counting on that as a storage space as of now.

Here I come asked: I want to build a simple outdoor picnic table and use pine (mostly 2×4) for construction because it is inexpensive. I plan to set it on my backyard lawn, so it will be exposed to moisture and sunlight. Question is, if I stain & protect it, will it last just as long as other higher quality woods like redwood and cedar? Thanks.

Elizabeth asked: I live in the Pacific Northwest which is famous for its frequent rain. We relish the few months of nice weather we have, but even in the summertime we can get some rainfall. I want to have some outdoor furniture in our back yard, but I don’t want it to be ruined if it gets wet. I like the idea of padded chairs, but since we don’t have a shed or covered patio, they are likely to get rained on and I don’t want them to grow mildewy or whatnot.
What materials are the best for rain?

suzyqgreen asked: I recently bought patio furniture with outdoor safe cushions. But the cushions are already being pecked to pieces by the birds in my backyard!
